Our Advisory Board

Evergreen Education’s Advisory Board is composed of people who offer their professional skills to keep staff and volunteers accountable to the school’s mission and values. Each member of the board has a specific role and uses established policies to guide decision-making and ensure Evergreen continues to provide high-quality education for students. This is not a voting board, the purpose is to oversee, provide guidance, mentor and support in the process of establishing and maintaining not-for-profit status.

Sarah Dunn - Chair

Sarah is a wife, mom of two boys, an Ontario certified teacher and co-founder of Evergreen Education. Creating this advisory board has been so special for Sarah. She and Kayley are excited that this amazing group of skilled and passionate people have come together to support the mission of Evergreen and see it thrive. Elizabeth Johnson - Secretary

Elizabeth is a wife, a mom of three boys, and a Registered Nurse here in Peterborough. It was an easy decision for her to serve on the board of Evergreen because she wants to see this school succeed as an alternative education option for families in our community to thrive. Elizabeth loves to be drinking coffee, walking with her dog Rosie, and playing board games as a family.

Kayley Dunn - Member

Kayley is a wife, mom of three kids, an Ontario certified teacher and co-founder of Evergreen Education. Kayley feels this Advisory Board is an honour and a great community space to share her ideas and get amazing feedback from a very knowledgeable group of people. Karen Mann - Member

Hi! My name is Karen Mann. I live just outside of Peterborough with my husband, Mark, our two amazing kiddos, Zoë and Stephen, and our (lovable, but obnoxious) dog, Pippa. I currently work part-time as a Sr Human Resources Specialist for a local engineering firm. I will be contributing to the Evergreen Board as a member, providing Human Resources support and guidance, as needed. I have a BA in Arts, a Certificate in HR Management and have my Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation. I have spent most of my career working as an HR generalist, and in management roles through significant business growth. I recently moved into a specialist support role to be more available to my family during this busy season of life. I am honoured to be able to support Evergreen in this capacity and can’t wait to see what the future holds for this unique school.

Sarah Skinner - Treasurer

Sarah has a Bachelor of Accounting from Brock University and has been a Chartered Professional Accountant since 2018. The majority of her professional experience to date as been in public practice working as an external auditor. When not working, you can find Sarah walking around an art gallery, adventuring through Ontario’s small towns or planning out her next DIY project. The Evergreen model and environment is filling a gap in education that isn’t readily available. I am so excited to be a part of the Evergreen Advisory Board and know that there are big things head for this school!

Ken Gill - Member

Ken Gill is the managing Director of Kenneth B Gill & Assoc. We believe every person is created with purpose, and intended to flourish. We seek to ‘Share Truth, Deliver Hope & Advance Transformation’ in our clients’ businesses and personal undertakings. We coach to build great resources for greater purposes. An advisory role to Evergreen Education is a delightful opportunity for the following reasons: the people at Evergreen Edu are people of character, moral integrity and vision; the values reflected in the curriculum and by the educators focus on developing children who have a true sense of their worth and potential. The impact of Evergreen has true legacy value for the students, their families and the community. It is a privilege and an honour to be able to serve in this way

Siobhan Doyle - Member

As a teacher with the Catholic school board for the past 8 years, I have taught many different ages and have developed a strong interest in understanding how students best learn, while finding authentic ways to engage with them. Currently pursuing my Master of Reading Science with Mount St. Joseph University, I am passionate about helping students build their foundations for lifelong literacy. I am happy to be a part of the Evergreen Advisory Board, watching students develop, grow and flourish in an environment that fosters and celebrates a love for learning. Evergreen is an amazing addition to our community, nurturing all parts of the child in a wholesome way and I look forward to seeing it grow in the years to come!
